Cougar Creation Station Information

Welcome to the launch of the 2016-2017 Cougar Creation Station in the St. Elmo Media Center.

What is the Cougar Creation Station? It is a Makerspace. Makerspaces promote learning through play and experimentation. They’re cross-disciplinary, with elements of art, science and craftsmanship.
They offer tools and materials that encourage students to create rather than consume.

When is it open? It will be open during regular library hours except on Wednesdays and Fridays due to scheduled classes.

Who can come? Any students 1st 5th grade. 2 4 students per class at a time for a 15 - 30 minute time frame.

What is being offered? The first Creation Stations I will have available are art, Lego, reading, and math modeling. The stations will rotate out every 4 weeks to give as many students as possible the opportunity to come and collaborate. I will eventually incorporate movie making and green screen opportunities, duct tape crafts, and other activities as the year progresses.

What are the rules? Very easy ones for ALL stations.

As part of our Creation Station Community, we have a few guidelines that you must agree to:

Be willing to create and share with another student

Put all materials away before you leave That’s nice!

You must agree that your creations belong to the Library Media Center and with the understood permission that we may Instagram, Tweet, Photograph, Blog, Facebook & share your creations to the world. They may also be taken apart by another student to make another creation.

“That’s the way of the Lego. “

If you’re not having fun, being nice, neat, generous, sharing, and cool we may ask you to leave our Makerspace Community. That’s on you. So be cool don’t be all uncool.

Thank you.
